Project Accountant - Construction

Australia - , Darwin Job Summary AECOM Construction Services are currently interested in hiring a proven Project Accountant with strong prior accounting exposure to Construction projects and an interest in working locally in our busy Darwin Defence project office and site. We have an open opportunity for a Project Accountant to start as soon as possible for a contract lasting 6-9 months, with prospects of extension. This will be based on a busy Defence site in Darwin and will require a suitable Project Accountant to be in Darwin to fulfil the project requirements and be capable of working with project staff, client and various members of Defence and Construction contractors. The Role This role will be a key project point of contact at the Defence site and function as the Project Accountant across all aspects of project finance and cost efficiencies throughout our program of works. The Project Accountant will be expected to work 40 hours per work across Monday – Friday for the contract period of 6-9 months. Minimum Requirements The Project Accountant will be confident and capable in construction environments and understand the construction projects processes throughout project timeline, with a cost perspective and be able to; Assist the Commercial Manager and Project Managers to analyse financial and project information Establish and direct Contract Administrators and Project Managers in financial administration activities and ensure invoicing and finance documentation are managed to strict process Ensuring scheduling and payments as managed as per agreed timeframes with various internal and external stakeholders Provide financial support in order to assist in operational decisions and working closely in advising Project Managers and multi-disciplinary stakeholders involved throughout the construction project processes A proven ability to manage and interface between complex stakeholder groups Work independently as a key finance/accounting point of contact, embedded in a busy and changing construction project environment Strong confidence and proven knowledge in compliance and governance processes to ensure quality in process and working to Australian standards and legislation Ability to manage time and multiple tasks efficiently, while having well-developed analytical skills within a construction project environment Preferred Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance CPA accredited highly desirable What We Offer When you join AECOM, you become part of a company that is pioneering the future .
